LAURA CAMBRÓN is a celebrated folk musician and dancer. She has pioneered the teaching of Son Jarocho (traditional musical style of Veracruz, Mexico), arranging numerous community events in schools and community organizations in Southern California. Laura has taught underserved youth through a variety of organizations in the Los Angeles immigrant community. She has a BS in International and Chicano/Latino Studies from the University of California, Irvine.
Service Site: Think College Now Elementary School, MetWest High School
Service Mission: Develop a Son Jarocho ELL music and performance program in 3rd-5th grades; Create and coordinate a music- and arts-based community service program for 4th/5th grades; Organize community activities to unify two adjacent schools.
