New beginning to an old story

It definitely feels good. I honestly am happy that she's happy. It really makes me smile and laugh - not because I feel good about my life, but because she is happy - truly happy. It's how it is. I can accept that we both needed out of our friendship with each other. We help each other grow in strange ways. At this point in my life, I feel like I can let it all go now. Of course, I want to be able to fix it, but not just yet. I think we can start out slow like when we first met. A new beginning… Continue

College Talk

I think hanging out with college friends has opened my eyes a bit. They're my friends and all but one thing that annoys me the most is the constant talk about "sex" everytime they get bored and have nothing else to talk about. It really makes me feel uncomforable and I don't like it. Why? I don't know...may be it's because of the environment I was riased in and the friends I had in high school weren't like that. I feel as though I'm such a pure child around them, even though I'm not. It does mak… Continue

One call, one hour

I don't know how exactly to express how I feel....I have mixed feelings about everything. One call, one hour, one hella confused asian here.

I want to express it yet fear that what I say might be taken the wrong way. I apologize if I hurt/will hurt you.

I really liked this guy but I was afraid to admit it to him. What kept me from telling him that I liked him? His race? My fear of getting rejected? Being heartbroken? What was his excuse? Do I live with a regret now that it's confirmed that he… Continue

Switching Paths

It's funny how one person can leave your life and it sets your life in a completely different path. I guess it all depended on where I wanted go in life. I took it hard at first, but looking back, I have grown and learned so much since that person left.

At first, I regretted the mistake I took to lose my good friend, but thinking back on it, it's probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I put my life on a better path and decided to make everything count. I appreciate those around me an… Continue

Essay

My name is Eric Lee, a 5th year student at UCLA. I grew up in Taiwan until I was thirteen and came to the US to study in high school and college. The combination of eastern and western cultural backgrounds helped me to see the advantages in each culture and influence my ideology. I appreciate the hardworking mentality in the eastern culture, yet I enjoy the outspoken and confident western culture. These two backgrounds allow me to adapt the goods from each and help me to grow as an individual.… Continue
